Admission Arrangements for Nursery (K1) Classes

Applicants apply to the EDB for the "Registration Certificate for Kindergarten Admission" ("RC") from September to November 2023 KGs process the 2024/25 K1 admission applications
Upon receipt of the applications with all necessary information and documents provided, the EDB will generally take six to eight weeks to complete processing of the applications and issue the “RC” / “Kindergarten” Admission Pass” (“AP”) to applicants1 by post
 
KGs inform applicants of the K1 application results before 15 December 2023
If the application is successful If the application is unsuccessful
Applicants register with one KG during the “Centralized registration dates” (i.e. 4 to 6 January 2023) by submitting the “RC” / “AP”and paying registration fee2 Applicants refer to the K1 vacancy information released by the EDB after the “centralised registration dates”
(i.e. from late January 2024)
 
KGs will send letters to notify parents of the admission procedures In May 2024
Parents come to the kindergarten to complete the admission procedures in June 2024
Note:
  1. If parents cannot submit the RC / AP to the kindergarten their child has been admitted to during the "Centralized Registration Dates", the kindergarten concerned may not be able to complete registration for their child. Hence, parents are required to submit RC application to the EDB within the designated period.
  2. If the child is admitted after the "Centralized Registration Dates", parents must still bring along the RC / AP for registration.  Should parents decide to change school, they must get back the RC from the kindergarten they have initially registered. When the parents get back the RC from the kindergarten they have initially registered, it shall indicate that that kindergarten concerned will no longer keep the place for the child and the "registration fee" paid to that kindergarten with which the child has been registered will not be refunded.【 The registration fee for half-day place is HK$970 / whole-day place is HK$1,570 】
  3. Parents who apply for admission for their child must submit in person a completed application form together with the following information and registration fee $40:
    the application form affixed with the passport photo of the child, a copy of the child’s Birth Certificate [if the child was not born in Hong Kong, a copy of the document of identity for visa or reentry permit must be submitted], a copy of the immunization record [attach the name of the child and the date of injection], 3 self-addressed envelopes with a stamp ($2.2) and child name on each envelope.
